As a latecomer to the sport I was constantly balancing the need to maximise my training benefit against the risk of injury. This led me to be open to a variety of coaching styles and techniques and ultimately enabled me to produce world-class performances at the appropriate moment over a significant period of time.
I have carried my ‘athlete first’ mentality into my coaching career and feel that it is now the moment to utilise my unique experiences, and help athletes get the very best out of themselves, along with all the other benefits that running brings.
Coaching, in my opinion, relies on a strong personal connection between coach and athlete which is why I place such a strong emphasis on this aspect.
